Ottawa has struck a deal with Omar Khadr, with over $10 million in compensation and an apology from the Canadian government for his imprisonment at Guantanamo Bay.
Khadr had apparently sued to $20 million.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller is angry about the deal.
He say Khadr is a terrorist who was convicted of murdering U.S. Army Medic Christopher Speer.
Miller says the apology and compensation are completely and utterly inappropriate.
The Conservative MP points out through the Death Benefit, the government provides a lump sum payment up to a maximum of $360,000 to the families of Canadian soldiers who are killed or injured while serving.
Meanwhile he says, this government is prepared to give more than $10 million to a convicted terrorist who has admitted to killing a U.S. Army Medic.
Miller says the deal is a slap to the face of the family of Sergeant Speer as well as the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces and Allied Forces that fight every day against the same terror groups that Khadr was a part of.
He says he has been swamped with calls and emails from people upset with news of the deal.
