Baycats Knock Off Majors
Morro's sacrifice fly in the 9th gave Barrie a 1-0 win over London in a battle of unbeaten teams.
It was a battle between two unbeaten teams in the Intercounty League.
But the Barrie Baycats prevailed in the end with a 1-0 victory over the London Majors Tuesday night.
The winning run came in the bottom of the 9th inning on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly by Conner Morro scoring Brandon Dhue from third base.
The Baycats had other opportunities to score especially in their half of the 6th inning when they had runners at first and third with nobody out but could not produce a run.
London's best chance to score was in the top half of the 9th when Carlos Artega reached base on an error to lead off the inning.
He went to second base on a balk, then to third on a sacrifice bunt by Chris McQueen but was left stranded.
Emilis Guerrero went the distance on a 2-hitter, striking out 8 for the Baycats (16-0).
Murilo Gouvea also had a complete game for the Majors (14-1) giving up a run on 7 hits and 4 walks while striking out 10.
The next game for the Baycats is Thursday night when they host the Brantford Red Sox at Coates Stadium.
Of note: The Baycats did not take any players from the Guelph Royals.
A dispersal draft was held once the Royals suspended operations for the season on June 21st.
