Today, for the first time in a dozen years, the Pride flag will be raised on a community flag pole in Owen Sound.
There was controversy the last time the rainbow flag was raised by the City.
In fact, council changed the rules on community flags, in 2005, to avoid this situation.
Last year it was flown on a pole at the Owen Sound Police station.
Members of Grey Bruce Pride, the police, local MPs and MPPs have all received invitations. The public is invited to come and show support as well.
The flag will remain up for the rest of Pride Month, until the end of June.
The ceremony will be at the Community Flag Pole which is temporarily at the front entrance to the Bayshore Community Centre, on the water side, until renovations at City Hall are complete, likely in 2018.
There will be a new Neighbourhood Flag Pole at the 8th Street side of City Hall, after the construction is finished
Today's ceremony will take place at 9am, at the Bayshore Community Centre.
