New Tecumseth Boundaries

New Tecumseth | by Phil DeLand

New Tecumseth is looking for input in from the community with the 2017 ward boundary review

The Town of New Tecumseth is looking for input in from the community regarding the 2017 ward boundary review.
During last Monday’s council meeting (June 12), one of four new ward boundary options was selected.
Now, each of the Town’s communities, Alliston, Beeton and Tottenham will hold public input sessions.
Residents are encouraged to attend and share their input regarding the proposed boundaries for New Tecumseth.
The first will take place on Tuesday, June 27th at Council Chambers from 5:30pm to 7pm.
The second will  be held on the following day, Wednesday the 28th, at the Beeton Memorial Arena on the 2nd floor.
It will also run from 5:30 to 7pm.
The review will be based on four major principles as utilized by other municipalities.
Those principals include representation by population, representation of communities of interest and neighborhoods, recognition of distinct geographic and infrastructure elements and recognition of population trends and future population growth.

If you're not able to attend any of the input sessions, you can still provide your comments through email to [email protected]
Staff will present the report to Council in late summer or early fall.
Council will then need to pass a by-law that will divide or re-divide the municipality into wards or dissolve existing wards.
