Remarkable Women In Huron County Recognized

Exeter | by Peter Jackson

Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson and South Huron Mayor Maureen Cole recognize prominent women.

Almost 200 Huron County women gathered in Exeter recently, to celebrate their contributions to their communities.

Those honoured represented a wide range of commitments from education to business to advocacy.

The Remarkable Women event at the South Huron Rec Centre was hosted by Huron-Bruce Tory MPP Lisa Thompson and South Huron Mayor Maureen Cole.

Special guests included former provincial cabinet ministers Elizabeth Witmer and Helen Johns, along with 2017 International Plowing Match Chair Jacquie Bishop.

A special moment was given to 100 year-old Alice Thiel of Zurich, who was born in the year women in Ontario achieved the right to vote.
