A missing canoeist who has been the subject of a large search effort since Thursday has been found deceased.
Bruce Peninsula OPP say 22-year-old Bennett Zeller, from Queensland, Australia was found at 5 Monday evening (June 5), by the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU), the Bruce Peninsula OPP Marine Unit and the Bruce Peninsula National Park Wardens.
Zeller went missing just before 3 in the afternoon on Thursday, when his canoe capsized with himself and a 26 year old Windsor man in it near the Grotto in Tobermory.
The Windsor man swam to shore and was transported by the Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to a local hospital with hypothermia and was released.
From June 1 to June 5, 2017, members of the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Bruce Peninsula OPP Marine Unit, Bruce Peninsula National Park Wardens, West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Aviation Service Helicopter, OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU), Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire Department, Tobermory Coast Guard, Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Trenton and ORGNE Air Ambulance assisted with the search for Zeller.
Police say their investigation is complete, foul play is not suspected.
