Kings Fall Short Against Griffins

Conn with 6 points in losing cause for Orillia.


The Orillia Experience Nissan Kings couldn't soar past the Griffins.
 
Gloucester got off to a good start and used a strong second period to beat the Kings 11-10 on Saturday night.
 
Cam McLean scored twice to give the Griffins a 2-0 first period lead.
 
With Gloucester up 3-2 in the second period, they would use their special teams (2 power play goals and 2 short-handed goals) to build a 9-6 lead.
 
Orillia chipped away at Gloucester's lead in the third eventually tying the game up before the Griffins scored two late goals to seal the win.
 
McLean (3 goals, 3 assists) finished with 6 points while Tyler Collins (3 goals, 1 assist) and Justin Tkachuk (1 goal, 3 assists) had 4 points each for the Griffins (5-8-0).
 
The Kings (7-6-0) were led by Tyler Conn (1 goal, 5 assists) with 6 points while David Wilkie (1 goal, 3 assists) and Matthew Campbell (2 goals, 2 assists) each had 4 points.
 
The next game for the Kings is Sunday afternoon when they host the Nepean Knights at Rotary Place for a 2 PM start.
