There is no shortage of interest in Walkerton’s vacant BIA manager position.
Deputy Mayor Dan Gieruszak says they have received over 30 applications from as far away as the GTA and British Columbia.
He says this bodes well for the Walkerton BIA who had a rough start to the year.
In December, all eight BIA Board Members with the exception of Gieruszak resigned from the Board in protest to what they claimed was bullying and harassment from a local business owner.
Around the same time BIA Manager Christine Brandt announced her plans to resign at the end of December to pursue a career in real estate.
Since that time a new BIA Board of Directors have been appointed and Gieruszak says things have been moving forward.
With the applicants now in, Gieruszak says the interviewing process is now underway.
He is not sure when the successful applicant will be chosen as he says this is a process they will not rush.
Gieruszak says it is imperative that they take their time and find the right person for the job.
