The new principal of Lakehead University in Orillia is raring to take on his new role.
Dr. Dean Jobin-Bevans was named as principal of the Orillia campus on Friday, succeeding Dr. Kim Fedderson.
Jobin-Bevins spent the last 12 years at Lakehead University, more recently as the Interim Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities in Thunder Bay.
He has also taught music as an Associate Professor, was Chair of the music department, and was Assistant and Acting Dean.
Jobin-Bevans says his immediate goal is to continue fostering great relationships with the community.
He says he wants to continue to cultivate and steward the relationships that Fedderson began a number of years ago.
Jobin-Bevans says he is a musical conductor who has done work with the Orillia Cellar Singers and the Orillia Vocal Ensemble.
He says Orillia is a well-known community and it is a great opportunity to lead Lakehead University in Orillia in a different capacity.
Jobin-Bevans says community engagement and Orillia's rich music history is a reason he accepted the position.
He says he is looking forward to being a member of the community.
Jobin-Bevans will officially take over on July 1st.
