Two big public meetings are on this week as the Bluewater District School board looks at potentially closing a couple of rural schools in the area.
Tonight, hundreds of parents and students are expected at Grey Highlands secondary school in Flesherton, where the Accommodation Review Committee or ARC, continues its review of several schools in Grey county.
The ARC process is looking at Beavercrest Community School, Holland-Chatsworth Central School, Macphail Memorial Elementary School and Spruce Ridge Community School.
The initial staff report recommended closing Beavercrest Community School in Markdale as of June 2017.
Chapman's Ice Cream has offered to put money into the existing school or help building a new school, while Grey Highlands council is offering to pick up the budget shortfall for 4 years to keep the school going.
Tonight's meeting begins at 7 at Grey Highlands secondary.
Meanwhile, another ARC meeting is set for Tuesday night.
That is for the Chesley and Paisley area schools accommodation review.
The staff report for the Bruce county area called for Paisley to close.
Tuesday's meeting is at 7pm at the Chesley District community school.
