The Executive Director of United Way Perth-Huron admits a fundraising shortfall is concerning.
Ryan Erb says while the organization has raised 67 per-cent of its $1.337 million goal, donations are lagging behind last year's pace by almost 10 per-cent.
Erb points out that several workplace payroll deduction campaigns are running late, but donations in general are slower than in most years.
He maintains optimism that the United Way can hit the target, which wraps up in March.
Erb says the January through March period is dedicated to donations and pledges, and that no special promotions are planned for the second half of the drive.
There was encouraging response to the United Way's Paint the Town Red promotion in November and the Care-A-Van of Hope in December.
Erb says the United way relies on local media to help get the word out, and hopes that locals will respond to the need.
The United Way helps 47 organizations and projects across Huron and Perth Counties.
