Attack Seek 11

Owen Sound | by Bayshore News Staff

Guelph Storm Open Home & Home

Attack and Storm meet on Special Night

The Owen Sound Attack could set a franchise record when the Battle of Highway 6 resumes tonight.

With puck drop against the Guelph Storm set for 7 pm at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre, the Attack will be looking to up it's winning streak from 10 games to 11, which would better the mark set by the Owen Sound Platers in 1996-97, and by the Attack in 2004-05.

But it won't be easy for the Bayshore Boys, who are 26-13-1-0 on the year.

Despite having a 21 point advantage on the Storm in the standings, the season series between the Midwest Division rivals has been a tight one, with each side having captured a pair of wins through four games on the year.

The last meeting between Owen Sound and Guelph was the most lopsided, with the Attack winning 8-1 on Dec. 9 to kick off their 10 game winning streak.

Wednesday night's meeting between the teams will also mark the first game for either team post-trade deadline, and it will see recently acquired overage forward Cordell James make his debut for the Bears.

James, who was acquired from the Barrie Colts on Monday in exchange for a 4th round pick in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection, has 13 goals and 12 assists in 36 games this year and will wear number 39 for the Attack.

The acquisition of James gives Owen Sound greater scoring depth and will complement the outstanding performances of Nick Suzuki, Jonah Gadjovich, Kevin Hancock, and Santino Centorame over the team's past 10 games.

Dating back to the Dec. 9 game against Guelph, Suzuki, Gadjovich, Hancock, and Centorame have 16, 17, 17, and 17 points respectively, with Gadjovich recording an impressive 11 goals in the 10 game streak.

Suzuki continues to lead the Attack in points with 52 on the year, while import Petrus Palmu's 47 points is good for 2nd on the team.

The Storm, who currently sit at 10th in the Western Conference, are led by draft eligible forward Isaac Ratcliffe who has 35 points in 40 games this year.

In roster news, the Attack have reassigned forward Daylon Groulx to the Fort Erie Meteors of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, while goaltender Riley Daniels has been assigned to the Kitchener Dutchmen of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Tickets for tonight's game are available at the MacVicar & McComb ReMax Attack Box Office, online at, or by calling 519-371-7452.
