Hanover School Plan Moving Forward

Hanover | by Robyn Garvey

A new Grade 7 to 12 school should start to take shape in the spring.

It’s full steam ahead for the new Hanover 7-12 school build project.

Hanover has approved the site plan agreement for the two story 87 thousand  square foot building that will house 29 classrooms.

The new school will be constructed on Hanover’s east end on 18th Avenue.

The project includes a football/soccer field with a six lane running track and an elementary soccer field at the south side of the property.

Parking will be located on the north side with enough spaces for 145 vehicles.

The site plan also reflects six ‘future’ portable classrooms.

With the site plan approved Director of Development Don Tedford expects a building permit to be issued in the new year.

This means the shovel can hit the ground this Spring with the new school ready for students in September of 2018.

Bluewater District School Board Chair Ron Motz is eager for the project to move ahead.

He says the new school will strengthen the educational opportunities for the area.

Mayor Sue Paterson agrees, calling it a historic occasion and is eager to see what the future of this new school will bring.
