Eighteen hospitals in Southwestern Ontario are sharing in $10.7-million in additional funding from Queen's Park.
The early Christmas present from the Liberal government is designed to improve to care and help to reduce wait times for patients and families.
MPP for London North Centre, Deb Matthews was at the London Health Sciences Centre Friday to make the announcement.
The new investment is designed to ensure that all public hospitals in Ontario have received at a minimum, a 2-per cent increase to their base funding this year.
Among the hospitals getting a financial boost are the South Bruce Grey Health Centre at $305,000, the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich gets $165,700, and the Wingham and District Hospital $121,000.
Two of the biggest grants are London Health Sciences Centre at nearly $2.8 million and St. Joseph's Health Care in London gets $1.5 million.
