The Canadian Hockey League will conduct their annual CHL Import Draft today, beginning at 11:00am.
The Owen Sound Attack will be using their 1st Round Pick, 29th overall as Damir Sharipzyanov not returning for an overage season, leaving a spot open. Forward and fan favorite Petrus Palmu will be returning to the Attack for his nineteen year old season.
“We wish Damir well in his development with the LA Kings.”, stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “We knew Damir would not be returning for an overage season and now our focus shifts to filling a hole in our lineup.”
It is unknown at this time whether the Attack will target a forward or a defenseman with their pick, but Dale DeGray is keeping his options open.
“We have some irons in the fire and being at the NHL Draft last weekend in Buffalo certainly helped that along. We need a player that can help us offensively next season, but whether that is from a forward position or offense from the back end, remains to be determined.”
The Import Draft begins at 11:00am, but the 29th overall pick isn’t expected to be made until early afternoon. Fans and media can follow along here http://chl.ca/importdraft or by visiting www.attackhockey.com.
