A spokesperson for the federal Liberals had some face time with Huron County's business community.
The Huron Chamber of Commerce invited former Liberal candidate for Huron-Bruce Allan Thompson to speak at their second breakfast series event, in Goderich.
Thompson is the Chair of Project Rural, which looks to keep a line of communication between Ottawa and the far reaches of Ontario, despite a lack of Liberal representation in numerous rural communities.
Chamber of Commerce President Gerry Rogers says Thompson's address spoke more specifically to the needs of Huron County, as compared to the first event with the region's conservative MP and MPP, Ben Lobb and Lisa Thompson.
At both events, Rogers says the rising cost of energy was of concern to local business people.
Although much of the region's power policies are decided provincially, Allan Thompson feels the issue should also receive federal attention.
He points to the outreach of Project Rural as a way to communicate the needs of Huron County to those in power.
The next breakfast event for the Huron Chamber of Commerce is expected in the Fall, with Rogers hoping to invite a member of the business community.
