Keeping Lake Simcoe Healthy

Orillia | by Ian MacLennan

Orillia completes significant upgrades to Wastewater Treatment Centre

The City of Orillia will be completing significant upgrades to its Wastewater Treatment Centre over the next year-and-a-half in order to reduce the amount of phosphorous entering into Lake Simcoe.

Under the Lake Simcoe Protection Act,  new compliant limits for phosphorous entering Lake Simcoe came into effect in June 2015.

Council has approved the prequalification of nine contractors to submit tender proposals this summer for the $15.5 million project.

The City will be seeking funding assistance from different levels of government to help with the cost.
