Kings Hand Gaels First Loss

Boyd scores 5 for Orillia.


A little luck was all Orillia needed to hand the Green Gaels of Clarington their first loss of the Junior B lacrosse season.

Trent Boyd led the way for the Kings with 5 goals in an 11-10 victory on Wednesday night.

Boyd scored four of the Kings' final 5 goals in the game.

Boyd gave Orillia 1-0 lead in the first period.

Down 8-5 in the second, the Kings (8-6-1) rallied for 3 late goals to tie the game at 8-8 after 40 minutes.

Jeff Fernandes had 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists) for the previously unbeaten Gaels (11-1-0).

Power plays saw the Kings go 3-for-6, the Green Gaels went 5-for-7.

The next game for the Kings is Friday night when they travel to Oakville to play the Buzz.
