Baycats Split Doubleheader with Majors
Atkinson's walk-off homer wins 1st game for Barrie; Jimenez blanks Baycats in 2nd game for London.
A walk-off win to start, a big goose egg to finish for the Barrie Baycats in Intercounty Baseball.
The Baycats won the first game of Sunday's double-header with the London Majors by a score of 3-2 on a solo home run by Kevin Atkinson in the bottom of the 7th inning.
Barrie was up 2-0 in the 6th inning when London scored twice on an R-B-I double by Cleveland Brownlee and an R-B-I single from Brett Sabourin.
Mike St. Kitts went the distance (7 innings) giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 8.
Baycats rookie 2nd baseman Connor Morro went 3-for-3 in the first game.
London took the second game by a score of 4-0 on a 4-hit complete game (7 innings) shutout by Elis Jimenez.
Brownlee went 2-for-4 with 2 R-B-Is while Byron Reichstein was 3-for-4 and scored twice in the second game for the Majors.
Down 3-0 in the bottom half of the 2nd inning, the Baycats had the bases loaded but Morro popped out to the pitcher to end the inning.
The next game for the Baycats is this Thursday night when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs at Coates Stadium.
