Racers Charged in Perth County

Perth County | by Peter Jackson

Two women charged under racing legislation, have lost vehicles for seven days.

Two area women will have to find an alternate way of getting around for a while, now that both have been charged under the province's street racing legislation in separate traffic stops in Perth County.

Police say they clocked a car travelling at 143 kilometres per-hour in a posted 80 zone on Line 44 northeast of Mitchell last Thursday.

And on Sunday, OPP stopped a car on Line 20 south of Sebringville that was doing 135 kilometres per-hour in an 80 zone.

A 69 year-old Central Huron woman and a 21 year-old woman from Stratford have both lost their licences, and their vehicles have been impounded for a week.

Both will answer to the charges in Stratford Court in May.
