The OSCVI Falcons won a boys field lacrosse tournament at Brock University on the weekend.
The Falcons went undefeated in the tournament on Friday.
The West Hill Raiders were also in the tournament.
And for one game -- because the Falcons and the Raiders played other schools with matching colours -- the two Owen Sound teams switched uniforms.
So the Raiders players wore the O-S colours and the Falcons players wore the West Hill colours.
Both teams won their respective games wearing the other teams colours.
See note from Kelly Wilkins below at West Hill
I would like to send you an interesting story about OSCVI and West Hill. With all the emotion of the amalgamation it's funny how things work out sometimes.
Both West Hill and OSCVI have boys field lacrosse teams for the first time this year. On Thursday of this week, the teams practiced together at WHSS and had a scrimmage at the end. Friday they shared a bus to the Shawn Williams Lacrosse tournament at Brock University. For their first games ever, West Hill was to play a school which had blue uniforms - the same as theirs - and OSCVI was to play a team with red uniforms - the same as theirs. For the players, the solution was simple, the West Hill and OSCVI players switched uniforms for their games. Both teams won their respective games wearing the other school's jersey. West Hill beat Christ the King and OSCVI beat Simcoe.
WHSS vs Christ the King - Won 10-7
OSCVI vs Simcoe - Won 8-1
OSCVI vs Assumption - Won 10-5
WHSS vs Simcoe - 7-3 when the game was called due to lightning
OSCVI vs HCDC - Won 7-3
WHSS vs Assumption was rained out
OSCVI won the tournament with at 3-0 record. WHSS was 1 win and 1 tie (due to rain out).
