Some new Barrie Colts are coming into the fold.

The OHL club selected a total of 16 players in Saturday's 2016 OHL Priority Selection.

The Colts had 2 picks in the first round.

They selected defenseman Tyler Tucker of the Toronto Titans, 16th overall.

Tucker is 6-foot-1, 217 pounds from Longlac (300 kms east of Thunder Bay) and says he will bring a physical game as well as some offence to the Colts.

Later in the round, the Colts took Toronto's Jack McBain -- a centre from the Don Mills Flyers -- with the 20th overall selection.

McBain is 6-foot-2, 182 pounds and says like other OHL players he wants to make it to the NHL and this is the beginning of a long process.

McBain's father Andrew played 11 seasons in the NHL (1983-1994) and was a teammate of current Colts head coach Dale Hawerchuk for 6 seasons with the Winnipeg Jets (1983-1990).

McBain says his dad told him how great it was to play with Hawerchuk and is looking forward to having him as a coach.

Tucker, McBain, and Mathew MacDougall -- an Aurora native with the OHL Cup champion York-Simcoe Express who was selected by the Colts in the 3rd round, 58th overall -- were introduced at a news conference at the Barrie Molson Centre on Saturday.

The Colts also announced that Hawerchuk has agreed to a 3-year contract extension that will see him remain as head coach of the team until the end of the 2018-2019 season.

Hawerchuk is in his 6th season behind the Colts bench accumulating a regular season record of 220-166-22 in 408 games.

The Colts made the OHL Playoffs in 5 of those seasons under Hawerchuk reaching the OHL Finals in 2013.
