Dudas Drafted by the Attack

Owen Sound | by Manny Paiva

Parry Sound native selected 10th overall in the OHL Draft.

The Owen Sound Attack have selected a high energy, skilled forward with their first pick in the 2016 OHL Draft.

Aidan Dudas was selected 10th overall by Owen Sound.

He is a 5 foot 7 forward who scored 25 goals and 51 points in 31 games last year with the North Central Predators Minor Midgets.

Attack GM Dale DeGray calls Dudas a "dynamite little player" and compares him to Brad Marchand of the NHL's Boston Bruins.

DeGray says Dudas is a hard working skilled forward with speed and tenacity, who is not afraid to get dirty to get the puck.

DeGray feels Dudas will be able to play well in the OHL right from the word go.

DeGray admits to being surprised that Dudas was available with the 10th pick.

DeGray says they had Dudas ranked as one of their top players in the draft, and they are thrilled to draft him.

Dudas hailed from Parry Sound, but DeGray says his family vacations at Sauble Beach.
Also from the 2016 OHL Priority Selection, Owen Sound Minor Hockey grad Connor Roberts was drafted third overall by the Hamilton Bulldogs.

The 6 foot 3 centre becomes the highest drafted Grey Bruce Highlander in the OHL.

Port Elgin native Brett MacLean was selected 11th overall by Erie in 2002.

Some of Roberts' teammates were also drafted.

Defenceman Chet Phillips of Southgate was taken in the fourth round, 62nd overall, by Saginaw.

Goaltender Lucas Pfeil of Owen Sound went in the sixth round, 103rd overall, to Kitchener.

Forward Brendan Cederberg was taken in the 11th round, 209th overall, by Peterborough; and forward Zach Trott was taken in the 14th round, 270th overall, by Sault Ste. Marie.

Collingwood native Allan McShane was also drafted 19th overall by the Erie Otters.

Attack Select Aidan Dudas with 10th Overall Pick

Owen Sound Attack General Manager Dale DeGray and the Attack Organization is pleased to announce that with the 10th overall pick in the 2016 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, they have selected forward Aidan Dudas from the North Central Predators Minor Midget AAA team.

"Aidan is a very skilled and very responsible player.", stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. "He competes at an extremely high level night in and night out and is of tremendous character.", stated Dale DeGray. "We recognized that we needed to address skill and scoring ability up front in our lineup and the addition of Aidan certainly helps that. He has a quick shot and skates extremely well."

Dudas, a 5 foot 7, 150lb centre tallied 25 goals and 26 assists to go along with 47 penalty minutes in 31 games played. The Parry Sound, ON native also suited up for Team Canada in the Youth Olympic games where he notched a goal and 2 assists, winning a Silver Medal.

Dudas is described by OHL Central Scouting as a very good skater with a low centre of gravity, making it hard to knock him off pucks. He has elite skill and a good snap shot with a quick release.

"Aidan will fit in nicely with our core group of players and with the style of hockey we play in Owen Sound. We are very excited to have him.", added DeGray.

The Attack wish to welcome Aidan and his entire family into the Attack organization. Aidan and his family will be in Owen Sound today, expected to arrive at approximately 2:00pm.
