Barrie Colts 8 Owen Sound Attack 1

Eight different Colts scored in the game as Barrie completed a 6 game sweep of the season series between the 2 clubs.

The 6 & 0 head-to-head sweep by the Colts is the first time in the history of these two franchises ( 1995-present ) that one team has completely swept the other.

In 2010-11, Owen Sound won all 6 games, but one of those victories was a shootout win, giving Barrie a single point.

This year, the Colts accumulated 12 of a possible 12 points and Owen Sound was shutout

Netminder Mackenzie Blackwood nearly posted his second straight shutout at the JD McArthur Arena. Blackwood who blanked the Attack 5-0 on February 10th, had a shutout going until 18:05 of the 3rd period when Kevin Hancock pounced on a loose puck to score the lone Owen Sound marker on a power play.

Barrie scored the opening goal 2:50 into the first period when Adrian Carbonara took advantage of an Attack defensive blunder and beat Michael McNiven to open the scoring.

Rasmus Andersson and Roy Radke followed with goals in the first 15 minutes of play ending the night for McNiven who was replaced in goal by Daniel Dekoning.

Keigan Goetz made it 4-0 in the first when he beat Dekoning just over 2 minutes later.

Barrie padded their lead to 8-0 with second period goals by Dylan Sadowy ( his 40th of the year; 20 at Saginaw & 20 at Barrie ), Andrew Mangiapane and Anthony Stefan, plus a 3rd period marker from Greg DiTomaso on a power play.

Colts forward Kevin Labanc assisted on the last 2 Barrie goals to give him 121 points on the season which tied the Colts franchise record for most points in a year. The mark was established by Sheldon Keefe in 1999-2000.

Labanc has a chance to establish a new Colts record on Friday night when Barrie visits Sudbury

The Attack return to action Friday night when they travel to Kitchener to go against the Rangers

You can hear Friday's game live on 560 CFOS with Terry's Trailer Service-Kia of Owen Sound Bearadio
