Summerfolk Announces Acts

Sunday, March 6, 2016 12:01 PM by Kevin Bernard
Summerfolk will announce a new performer every day in March.

(Owen Sound) -

The Georgian Bay Folk Society is out with more information on the performer lineup for the 41st annual Summerfolk Music and Crafts Festival.

Every day until March 31st -- the Folk Society will announce one of the acts to appear on the stages of Summerfolk at Kelso Beach in Owen Sound, August 19th to the 21st.

A handful of performers have already been released including multi-time Juno Award winner Bruce Cockburn, Lindi Ortega, and Good for Grapes.

There are more than 30 acts still to be announced.

This year's lineup is again the work of Summerfolk Artistic Director James Keelaghan.

Keelaghan won't release names early but says they have a great mix of iconic acts, returning favourites, and new talent from the blues, to classic folk, traditional bands.

There will even be a little bit of hip-hop thrown in.

Locals will recognize a few bands from Grey and Bruce counties and they are bringing in acts from as far away as New Zealand and Australia.
