A new record has been set for home sales in Grey Bruce in December.
Figures released by the Realtors Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound show 147 sales last month, a jump of 51 per cent from 2014, and 19 per cent above the record set in 2002.
For all of 2015, there were 2,611 sales through the MLS system.
That total is up 17.7 per cent from a year ago and was the best year on record for home sales, breaking the previous high of 2007 by some 25 home sales.
The average price for homes sold in December in the area was nearly $245,000.
That is up 18 percent from the same month a year ago.
However, the average price for the entire year was slightly lower and represented an 8.1 per cent hike from all of 2014.
At the end of December, there were 1,245 homes listed for sale, down 16.3 per cent from the same time a year ago.
The dollar value of home sales last month was $36-million, up nearly 79 per cent from December of 2014.
The value of all homes sold in 2015 was $639-million, up 27 per cent in a year and the first time the total has passed the $600-million mark.
