Study warns Collingwood Airport would be negatively impacted if turbines are built.
The town of Collingwood and Clearview Township have issued a joint news release to do with an Economic Impact Study for the airport.
The study, which analyzes the impacts of the WPD wind project on the Collingwood Regional Airport, has been released and has been submitted to the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change.
The report says that WPD Canada's plans for eight wind turbines west of Stayner would have a significant negative impact on airport operations. The study also says the project has the potential to jeopardize any proposed or future investment in the airport and the economy of the region.
This study was jointly commissioned by the Township of Clearview and the Town of Collingwood, and the full study is on both municipal websites.
The joint news release says full information about the economic impact on the airport is necessary so the MOECC can determine whether it is in the public's best interest to approve the wind turbine project.
