Owen Sound skier, Larisa Yurkiw, logged a silver medal finish at a women's World Cup downhill event on Saturday in Altenmarkt Zauchensee, Austria.

American Lindsey Vonn won the competition with a time of of 2-minutes and 11.17-seconds, exactly 1-second ahead of Yurkiw.

The Olympian from the Scenic City returned to the Austrian resort where she made her World Cup debut nine years ago, finishing 58th in a downhill in 2007.

Yurkiw -- who is traveling the World Cup circuit with her own team -- stated "Today, after the first run, I thought this is my chance to show what I've learned."

She says racing against Vonn "a constant challenge.

She is a good competitor though she is not unbeatable. But today she was."

Cornelia Huetter of Austria placed third.
