Canada Out of the World Juniors

Helsinki | by Bayshore News Staff

Canada fell 6-5 to Finland at the World Juniors, eliminated from competition.

There will be NO SUCCESSFUL title defence for Canada.

Mitch Marner's two power-play goals in the third period weren't enough, and Team Canada lost a 6-5 quarter-final decision to Finland on Saturday at the World Junior Hockey Championships in Helsinki.

Canada -- the defending 2015 tournament champions -- began the contest strong, scoring on three of the first ten shots.

Finland will meet Sweden in the semi-finals.

The Swedes dispatched Slovakia 6-0 in their quarter-final match.
