The Mississauga Steelheads downed the Owen Sound Attack 3-1 in Ontario Hockey League play Friday afternoon at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre
Overage netminder Jack Flinn made 40 saves to backstop the Steelheads to the win.
Flinn, who was dealt to Mississauga by the Attack on the opening day of the season, held the fort for the Steelheads especially in the 2nd and 3rd periods when the Attack carried territorial play.
Owen Sound outshot Mississauga 30-11 over the final two periods, including a 14-3 margin in the 3rd period when Owen Sound did not score on any of 4 consecutive power play opportunities.
Jason Smith, Daniel Muzito-Bagenda and Nicholas Hague scored for the Steelheads who move to 42 points on the season.
Kevin Hancock had the lone marker for the Attack who had a 3 game win streak snapped and remain at 38 points.
Not only did Owen Sound shoot a blank on 6 power play chances in the game, they also failed to take advantage of a Mississauga squad that was missing close to a half dozen regulars due to various factors.
The Attack will host Oshawa on Saturday night
