Port Elgin | by Claire McCormack

Grey Bruce Health Unit asks for help to find dog to make sure it doesn't have rabies.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is looking for the public's help in finding the owner of a dog involved in a biting incident in Port Elgin.

It happened around 9 PM on Wednesday.

A man was walking on Brentwood Drive in Port Elgin when he was bitten by a dog.

It is described as a black bulldog and appeared to be running loose.

The bite occurred as he tried to separate the dog from his own.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit says it needs to confirm the dog does not have rabies.

Public health officials say by verifying the health of the dog, the man who was bitten can avoid the post-exposure rabies treatment.

If you have any information related to this incident, please contact the Grey Bruce Health Unit at 519-376-9420.
