A rare Saturday road game for the Goderich Flyers resulted in a 10-4 loss to the Mount Forest Patriots but there were still some highlights for the Flyers.
The Western Junior C game Saturday marked the return of forward Brandon Priestap from an injury suffered in a game against Mitchell on November 8th, while defenceman Wyatt Carey saw his first action after serving a 10-game suspension.
Priestap fired in Goderich's first goal in the first minute of the second period from Tyler McCracken and Mitch Kuik, to reduce the Mount Forest lead to 4-1.
Marcel Fohkens and Jesse McIntyre set up Noah Kuno for a power-play marker at 6:35 of the second period.
Tyler McCracken added an unassisted short-handed goal with 3:39 left in the middle frame, and Jack Francis rounded out the Flyers' scoring with a solo effort with 1:40 remaining in the second.
Goderich goaltenders Nathan Watson and Ben Errington made a total of 35 saves.
The game is Errington's first since being acquired from a Junior B team in Thunder Bay -- he had played previously in the Western C league for Wingham and the Goderich Sailors.
Michael Stefanelli and Doug Ardis each scored twice for Mount Forest, with six other players accounting for one goal each.
The Flyers return home to face Walkerton at MRC on Sunday at 2:30 PM, while the Patriots visit Mitchell on Wednesday.
In other Western Junior C play Saturday, Spencer Elder led first-place Walkerton with two goals as the Hawks doubled Hanover 4-2, and Shawn Rooke scored the overtime game-winner in a 2-1 Kincardine victory at Mitchell.
