Winterhawks Lose to Ripley Wolves

Saugeen Shores | by John Divinski

Saugeen Shores Hawks get nipped by Ripley Wolves at the Plex in Port Elgin.

A short-handed goal, a power play goal and two full-strength goals for the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks, but it wasn't enough.

The Hawks lost to the Ripley Wolves, 5-4 in WOAA Senior hockey at the Plex in Saugeen Shores.

For the Hawks, it was their third consecutive loss.

Coach Peter Roedger says being at the half-way point of the regular season, they'll have to treat every game from here, as a playoff game if they're going to make a noise at the end of the season.

Roedger says it's frustrating to see the team take a lot of shots with no goals.

Yet the opposition may only get one chance but they get the goal.

Hawk player of the game, Trent Hawke, with a power play goal and a short-handed marker, says the team just needs to keep working hard and things will turn around.

Other Winterhawk scorers were Brent MacDermid and Chris King.

The squad is off now until Tuesday, December 29th when they host the Shallow Lake Crushers.

Game time at the Plex on December 29th is 8 PM.

The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks would like to wish all its fans a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and thank them for their support this season.
