Hawks Keep Winning Streak Intact

Port Elgin | by John Divinski

Saugeen Shores Winterhawks beat Lucknow 6-1 for fourth win in November.

The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks win streak for November is intact.

In WOAA Senior hockey at the Plex, the Hawks won their 4th in a row for the month, 6-1 against the Lucknow Lancers.

The game produced two power play goals by the Hawks, one short-handed marker by player of the game Nick Quaid, and three full strength goals.

Quaid says, after a weekend off last weekend, they wanted to come out strong and finish on a winning note.

Coach Peter Roedger says Lucknow is a team that will always come at you so they had to keep the game plan simple and keep moving the puck

Besides Quaid's shorthanded goal, Andy Fracz and Greg Thede scored power play markers.

Brendon Haefling, Alex Penner and Jay Thomson rounded out the scoring for the Hawks.

Roedger says with four wins under their belt for November, it puts the team in a good place heading into tonight's game in Palmerston against the Mapleton-Minto 81's.

The 81's are considered the team to beat in the south division of the WOAA.

Game time in Palmerston is 7 PM.

The Hawks next home game is Saturday, December 5th, again against the 81's.

Game time at the Plex is 8 PM.
