The Goderich Flyers put in another good effort, but fans’ hearts were broken late in the third period of a 3-2 loss in Kincardine.
Dan Skinner’s goal with 1:32 left was the game-winner in Western Junior C hockey at the Davidson Centre Friday.
The Bulldogs went out to a 2-0 lead on a goal by Brett Burrows in the first period and Shane Vollmer’s marker in the second.
Jack Francis set up Trent Michie (MICK’-ey) 5:48 into the third period for Goderich’s first goal, followed by Francis’ marker from Marcel Fohkens with 3:54 left.
The Francis goal came on the man-advantage, while Kincardine’s Dalton Hnatko was serving an interference minor.
The Flyers outshot Kincardine 27-25.
Goderich returns home to face Wingham at MRC tonight (SAT) at 7:30pm, while Kincardine hosts Mitchell at the Davidson at 7pm tonight.
In other Western Junior C action Friday, Will Rickerby scored twice in a four-goal third period, as Walkerton stopped Wingham 7-4.
Reilly O’Connell netted the game-winner 37 seconds into the final period, to lead Mount Forest to a 4-3 victory over Hanover.
