Shield Win Again
Two goals from Protchenko allow South Muskoka to stay tied for 1st in North Division.
The South Muskoka Shield continue to put up the win.
Edgar Protchenko scored twice for the Shield in a 3-1 victory over the Almaguin Spartans on Friday.
The Shield were up 1-0 in the second period when Protchenko knocked in his first goal of the game for a 2-0 South Muskoka lead.
The Spartans (10-2-0) would cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal by Erik Erkers midway through the third period.
But 5 minutes later Protchenko put the game away with his second goal on a 5-on-3 power play.
Alfred Panelin-Borg had the other goal for the Shield (14-2-1).
The win keeps the Shield in a first place tie with Temiskaming in the GMHL's North Division.
The next game for the Shield is Monday night in Coldwater against the Falcons.
