Assistant Coach Derek King has departed the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League.

Attack General Manager Dale DeGray confirmed the departure, saying King is leaving for " personal reasons " and little more.

King joined the Attack in August as an Assistant Coach after spending six seasons with the Toronto Marlies.

In a statement, King related, " When I accepted the position I was sure I could be away from my family. That turned out not to be the case and at this time, I cannot uproot my family. I am going home to be with them and support them until I can find a suitable situation where we can all be together."

The departure leaves the Attack bench with just Head Coach Ryan McGill.

DeGray states they will be fielding applications for the assistant coaching position, but he anticipates the search will take longer than it did to fill the position in the summer.

In the interim, DeGray will join Ryan McGill on the bench until a replacement is named.

The Attack host Erie Wednesday at 7 PM at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
