Ball Platers from Owen Sound and Saugeen Shores in Sport Culture Exchange.

Saugeen Shores Minor Baseball graduate Jack Middleton, and Owen Sound Minor Baseball graduate Joe McCorkindale will join a group of student athletes from Thunder Bay, Sudbury, and Stratford for a culture and heritage exchange with the Academy at Sands team from Vancouver, BC.

The trip has been sponsored in part by a YMCA Canada Youth Exchanges grant.  From April 13 to 20 the players will visit several landmarks including the UBC Museum of Anthropology, BC Sports Hall of Fame, and the Capilano Suspension Bridge to name just a few, as well as practice and play baseball.  In addition they are required to volunteer for 8 hours to help the community.

Jack Middleton says “Both Joe and I played for Coach Tom Valcke at the 2014 Ontario Summer Games with Western Ontario.  So I guess when he was putting this group together for the trip he felt that we would be good representatives.  It will be a lot of fun but also a great chance to learn about another province.”

Both played AAA baseball last year with the WOBA Storm and this season will be playing AAA Major Bantam with a team from Stratford which will is also being coached by Tom Valcke.
