Team Canada is coming home from Russia with a silver medal from the Deafalympics hockey tournament in Russia, in which two Western Junior C Hockey league players played a major role.
The host team doubled Canada 6-3 in the gold medal game yesterday.
That was the only loss for Canada after sweeping the round-robin, defeating the US 4-2, blanking Kazakhstan 14-0, dropping Finland 7-1 and edging the Russians 2-1.
Goderich Flyers' forward Jesse McIntyre of Brucefield and Mitchell Hawks' goaltender Graeme Lauersen saw a lot of ice-time throughout the tournament for deaf and hearing-impaired players.
McIntyre's twin brother Cody was also selected to Team Canada, but was unable to take part because of injury.
The McIntyres also brought home silver from the 2013 Deafalympics tournament in Finland.
