Rupert Rallies Knights

Regional | by Bayshore News Staff

Attack Host Barrie Tonight

Ontario Hockey League

London Knights 4 Kitchener Rangers 3 (SO)

Knights 4 Rangers 3 (SO)

Matt Rupert scored the tying goal late in the third period, then produced the shootout winner for the Knights

Owen MacDonald and Mitchell Marner also scored for London who trailed 3-0 after 1 period of play.

Tyler Parsons relieved starter Michael Giugovaz after the 1st period and made 25 saves, closing the door on Kitchener's attack.

The win solidifies the Knights hold on 3rd place in the Western Conference as they move to 73 points, 3 more than 4th place Guelph.

The 73 points means London needs just 1 more point to clinch a playoff spot for a 15th consecutive season.

Ryan MacInnis scored two power-play goals for the Rangers while underage Connor Bunnaman had the other Kitchener goal.

By virtue of the shootout loss, Kitchener picks up a point which allows the Rangers to bypass the Owen Sound Attack for 5th in the Western Conference.

The Attack are 1 point back of the Rangers but have played 2 less games

Tonight in Owen Sound, the Attack host the Barrie Colts

Game time is 7 pm at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre
