Cult Leader Committed To Trial

Judson King will have a trial on six charges of cult like group in Chatsworth.

One of two brothers charged in connection with a cult-like group near Chatsworth has been committed to stand trial in Ontario Superior Court.

Judson King of Oakville was in an Owen Sound Court on Monday for a one day preliminary hearing on six charges filed earlier this year by the OPP.

The hearing ended with his committal to Superior Court, although no date was set.

King is charged with assault with a weapon, uttering death threats, sexual assault and three counts of assault between 1981 and 2007.

His brother Fred King, will be in court March 23rd thru the 25th for his preliminary hearing on 24 charges for incidents between 1978 and 2008.  

Fred King was the leader of the Church of Jesus Christ Restored.

Because of a publication ban, no information can be released from his court appearances.

Fred King was known as "The Prophet", and he faces charges of sexual exploitation, sexual interference, three counts of sexual assault, three of assault causing bodily harm, four of uttering death threats, two of assault with a weapon and 10 counts of assault.

He had disappeared after former members of the Church of Jesus Christ Restored in Chatsworth went to police in 2012 with allegations of physical and sexual abuse.
Fred King was arrested in Hamilton on April 11th.

In her book, "Property: The True Story of a Polygamous Church Wife" released in 2013, an Owen Sound woman described several acts of assault she suffered before escaping.

She was a church member for several decades, and was one of several wives of the "Prophet" before finally breaking free a few years ago.

As a result of her allegations, the OPP launched a 16 month probe into the church.

On April 7th,  police announced charges had been filed against the two bro
