Baycats Continue Winning Ways

Barrie scores seven runs in 4th, hold on to beat the Panthers 8-6.

Not even Mother Nature was able to cool down the Barrie Baycats.

The Baycats scored seven runs in the 4th inning for an 8-0 lead and held on to beat the Kitchener Panthers 8-6 in Intercounty baseball action on Sunday night.

The start of the game was delayed by 45 minutes because of rain.

Jordan Castaldo and Jonathan Fernandez each collected two hits while Brendan Keys had three RBIs for the Baycats (17-3).

Rick Murray and Byron Bell slugged back-to-back home runs in the home half of the 4th inning for the Panthers (9-12).

Bell added one more in the 7th.

The Baycats head to Guelph Tuesday afternoon for a Canada Day game against the Royals.
