It's an early Christmas present for skiers at Blue Mountain -- an expansion of the ski hills.
The Orchard is a new area for skiing, with six new runs and a new high-speed, six person chair lift, The Orchard Express.
Three of the runs opened Tuesday at 9 AM.
The Orchard trails were cut in 1987, they remained undeveloped for skiing and snowboarding until recently.
The new runs cost Blue Mountain about seven and a half million dollars to create, and the resort says it's the biggest investment it has made in about 30 years.
All six runs have been outfitted for night skiing and all have snowmaking equipment.
