Howard Loses at Olympic Trials

Winnipeg | by Bayshore News Staff

Tie atop both Men's and Women's Standings at Canadian Olympic Curling Trials.

Glenn Howard calls it the worst loss of his curling career.

Howard allowed Kevin Martin to score four in the ninth end in a 9-7 come-from-behind victory at the Olympic curling trials in Winnipeg.

The loss drops the Penetanguishene skip to 1 and 3.

Alberta's Martin improves to 4-and-0 along with Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie.

On the women's side, Val Sweeting lost for the first time week, and is tied with Jennifer Jones at 3-and-1.

Heather Nedohin handed Sweeting her first loss with a last rock draw to win a tight game 6-5.

Sweeting is technically in the lead among the women, thanks to her earlier win over Jones.

Nedohin is 2-and-2.
