Bigras, Meurs Suit Up for Avs

Plenty of ice time for Bigras, Meurs in 2-1 loss to Anaheim.

The NHL preseason had a local flavour when the Anaheim Ducks beat the Colorado Avalanche 2-1 on Wednesdya.

Owen Sound Attack defender Chris Bigras played 22 minutes in the game for Colorado including two minutes of power play time.

Bigras was credited with two shots on goal in the contest.

A key member of the Attack for the past two years, Bigras is expected to remain with the Avalanche and miss the start of the Attack season.

Meanwhile, Ripley native Garrett Meurs also played for Colorado

Meurs, a former Huron-Perth Laker and member of the Kincardine District Knights, saw about five minutes of ice time

On Thursday night, Minnesota is at Winnipeg

Attack overage candidate Kurtis Gabriel is not scheduled to make the trip to Winnipeg with the Wild

Gabriel is also not expected to be in the Attack lineup tomorrow when they open the OHL season at Mississauga
