Strikers No Match for Collingwood

Owen Sound | by Jon Meyer

Collingwood United get past Strikers in a match of two teams in opposite directions

A York Region Soccer League match of first versus worst went the way of Goliath at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex in Owen Sound.

Collingwood United, who now have 45 points on the season, won easily 8-0 over the last place Owen Sound Strikers squad last night.

Collingwood have clinched the league title and have been promoted up to the Ontario Soccer League next season.

Teams from the Premier Division of the York Region Soccer League typically don't do well in the OSL.

Owen Sound Grey Motors United are in a battle for second place, well back of first place Collingwood.

Grey Motors play in Bradford Thursday night.

United are two points up on third place Alliston Arsenal, who play the East Gwillumbury Rangers tonight.

The Rangers sit fourth, three points back of Alliston.
