MINOR HOCKEY GOALIES GET AN ASSIST FROM INSURANCE BROKERS OF ONTARIO
GOALIE ASSIST PROGRAM RETURNS FOR THIRD SEASON
RICHMOND HILL, ON: The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) and Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) are proud to launch the OMHA IBAO Goalie Assist Program for the third consecutive year. This season, the OMHA IBAO Goalie Assist Program will support children who have dreams of becoming a hockey goaltender, by providing a set of hockey goaltending equipment to 5-7 year old players interested in trying the position.
Over the course of the program, new equipment has been distributed to young players in over eighty communities across the province. Each kit is equipped with a set of youth pads, a catcher and blocker set, stick, chest protector and bag. Goaltending resources are also included to aid coaches in educating young goalies on fundamental skills.
“IBAO continues to support this great provincial group focused on building and growing the skills of youth in our communities,” stated IBAO CEO, Randy Carroll. “Brokers are committed to the people and programs in their communities. This type of sponsorship directly relates to that commitment by encouraging youth to be active.”
"The IBAO has provided a great investment in our game by removing a financial barrier for parents. This program allows young players the ability to try a position that requires specialized equipment." stated OMHA President Rob Ring. "We hope that this will encourage more players to enjoy the position and strengthen the talent pool for a generation of young goalies."
Applications are available to download at www.omha.net until September 1, 2013.
