Despondent Man on the Bruce

OPP close off roads around Stokes Bay Friday, before arresting man in Tobermory.

You may have noticed a lot of police activity on the Bruce Peninsula.

On Friday evening, the Stokes Bay area was blocked off with police barricades as the OPP searched for a despondent man.

Bruce Peninsula OPP were called in to help South Bruce OPP,  after the man left a party and headed north after indicating he may harm himself.

His vehicle was found in the former Eastnor Township, with his cell phone and an empty gun case inside.

Due to the unstable nature of the man, the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), and Canine Unit (K9) were dispatched along with members of the Bruce Peninsula OPP.

As the investigation unfolded information was received that the despondent man was in the Tobermory area.  

He was apprehended without incident and brought to hospital for assessment.

South Bruce OPP is continuing their investigation.
