There are plans for a second craft brewery in Collingwood.
This one would be on Sandford Fleming Drive on property that currently has a warehouse and a flooring and roofing company -- next to Rogers Cable.
There's no name for the brewery yet.
In September, council approved a zoning by-law amendment to allow Side Launch Brewing Company to build a brewery on the south side of Mountain Road just east of the Tenth Line.
Planning agent for the developer which is Three Boys Holding Inc., Krystin Rennie, says the brewery would make a pale ale and Belgian style ales.
She adds it would be about three per cent the size of Creemore Springs to start and with future expansion would still be around 20 percent the size.
Rennie tells us they plan to hire four people to start and then grow to 20 plus employees.
At a public meeting on Monday for a zoning by-law amendment to allow a brewery in that east end industrial area, there was one written submission and one person who spoke about concerns over noise and odour.
Rennie says they've had an engineering firm do an air quality, odour and noise investigation and she believes the output is pretty much non existent and there won't be any negative affect on people living in the area.
The planning agent says the developer would like the brewery to be open by the fall, but first approvals must be given.
Also at this meeting, council gave draft approval to the Consar Plan of Subdivision.
The project is on the east side of the Tenth Line and includes 230 units.
There are 158 single detached homes and 72 townhomes.
And council also granted a tree permit for vacant lands on Highway 26 East. A condition includes keeping the trees along the highway and along the southern part of the property across from Newport Boulevard to provide a buffer.
A car repair business is planned for the property.
It will be at the back of the Hyundai dealership.
