Meaford Loses Senior Staff

Meaford | by Matt Villeneuve

Michael Humble is becoming Treasurer in Wiarton, Pam Fettes leaving for Clearview.

Two senior staff members in Meaford are leaving the municipality.

Deputy Treasurer Michael Humble was to accept a Treasurer job in Meaford this week -- but instead, he announced on Monday night that he would be taking the same position as treasurer in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

Humble -- who has been with Meaford for nearly three years -- tells Bayshore Broadcasting News it was a tough decision and was made with careful consideration.

He, along with his family, are avid scuba-divers with a passion for the shipwrecks of Tobermory.

Humble admits it had always been his goal to retire to the Northern part of the Bruce Peninsula, where he has a cottage.

Humble -- who also worked in Guelph -- will be introduced at the March 5th Council meeting in South Bruce Peninsula and he will begin his new role on March 19th.

It was also announced at Monday night's meeting that Clerk, Pamela Fettes is leaving Meaford for Clearview Township.

She's been with the municipality for just over five years.
